I numeri delle porte TCP/IP sono divisi in tre gruppi:
- the Well Known Ports: da 0 a 1023. DCCP Well Known ports NON POSSONO essere usate senza la registrazione presso IANA. La procedura di registrazione è definita in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.
- the Registered Ports: da 1024 a 49151. DCCP Registered ports NON POSSONO essere usate senza la registrazione presso IANA. La procedura di registrazione è definita in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.
- the Dynamic and/or Private Ports: da 49152 a 65535
